Kumdo

Kumdo, descended from Kendo,  means the way of the sword. Kumdo is a modern Korean martial art that has become ingrained within Korean culture and society. Its origins arise from the traditional samurai swordsmanship, or kenjutsu.

Kumdo includes the study of..

  • Kum-beop (forms)
  • Kum-sool (sword technique)
  • Kyrogi (sparring)

Practitioners wear the traditional uniforms called hakama and spar using protective gear. Students will progress from beginner level with a wooden sword to advanced level with a dull metal sword. After the rank of first degree black belt, adult students begin sharp metal sword training.

Kumdo classes are held for children, teens, and adults. Students  with proper Taekwondo rank and Master Henrich’s recommendation are allowed to participate.
